EducationI am an experienced reading and learning specialist with a private practice in the Fairfax, Loudoun County, Prince William area.
As well, I am a semi-retired university educator with many years of classroom teaching, teacher training and staff development experience.
Graduate degrees in education from Columbia University, Teachers College and doctoral studies in Reading and Literacy at George Mason University.
My background and research interests are with anything langage based. I am interested in linguistics, second language acquisition, teaching English to speakers of other languages and early language development and emergent literacy. My current focus is on how young, techno-literate, learners approach reading.
ExperienceExtensive work with young readers who may be mystified by the reading process. There are a number of reasons for these early reading challanges.
I do diagnostic reading and learning assessments to determine what these challenges are. I then design an individualized learning plan/intervention for each client.

HobbiesI enjoy any kinds of travel and new adventures. I have two young grandsons who are the light of my life. I enjoy reading to them and of course I am an avid reader myself.
